My Predictions for Lost Season 3

Jack
I think Jack has some issues regarding his (ex)wife. We know that Jack has a bit of a problem leaving things unfixed. He is going to try to fix his relationship with his estranged wife even after that ship has sailed.
There is also the mystery of Christian Shephard’s daughter is. It is possible that it was Christian who was having an affair with Sarah. But in all likelihood the daughter is Claire, making Aaron, Jack’s nephew. That’s how TV works sometimes.

Locke
Locke survives, but perhaps loses the use of his legs again. He becomes a broken man in a sense, and goes after Henry for answers – perhaps joining the Others. We might see how he loses the use of his legs to begin with, in a flashback, that might explain the fate of Helen. Locke too, has problems letting go. But Locke isn’t angry at his father, and probably will return if given the chance. A chance, say, of Mr. Cooper showing up on the island.

Kate
Kate is going to face some tough decisions about Jack and Sawyer. One thing that supersedes this is her desire to run away from things. The others might offer her a solution, although whether or not it is a good thing might be apparent. The flashbacks have yet to reveal why she killed her father. The “abusive husband” thing isn’t flying with me. He did something that affects the current situation at hand.

Charlie
Charlie has finally beaten the drug habit, but in trade he’s gone to the darkside. I believe Charlie is under the influence of the forces of the island. Not the Others, mind you, but the force that been controlling our castaways from the very beginning. He is going to do some bad things in order to keep Claire, and it may not be in favor of the baby. Unfortunately, Charlie’s back story does not offer anymore insight to his character, and that usually means death on the island.

Hurley
With the death of his love, Libby, by a supposed “friend”, Hurley is going to be dealing with a lot this season. There is still the question of who Dave was, and how did Hurley come up with him. The answers lay in the deck collapse incident, where his weight allegedly caused the death of several people. My guess is that Dave, or David – Libby’s husband, was a victim. He was bald, which indicated he might have been undergoing chemotherapy. The collapse might have taken place at a party honoring Dave, and Hurley was catering it. That would explain Libby’s presence in the institution as well, she had a nervous break down over his death. That also might explain her motives for being with Hurley on the island. It wasn’t for love, it was for revenge. Or maybe she forgave Hurley, and tried to help him, despite her anger over her husband’s death.
Personally, I’d like Hurley to disappear in the jungle and come back in Season 4 as a slimmed-down badass.

Michael
One word. “Boom”.

Jin and Sun
Sun’s pregnancy is going to cause some problems when it is discovered that Jin isn’t the father. Although this might not happen until season 4 or 5. I can’t think of any flashbacks that will explain their characters even more – unless Jin was also having an affair with a Paik associate – who was maybe blackmailing him.

Sawyer
Sawyer is going to meet his nemesis this season. And it will cross-over with Locke’s dad. A lot of people have guessed this. If Mr. Cooper is in league with the Others, it is going to make Sawyer not so compliant. The issue won’t be resolved this season, but it will be a set-up between Sawyer and Locke to do battle. I’d like to see a flashback, involving “The Tampa Job”.

Mr. Eko
Eko has been manipulated by the island as much as anybody else. He has a strong sense of moral direction, though, and will be the center of the rest of the castaways in the absence of Jack. The problem might be with Sayid. We know that Sayid and Eko were in England for a short while, and that we might have a cross-over with Eko trying to trace the drugs on the plane to the dealer. It’s never been established what Sayid did as a job to make money in his quest for Nadia. The drugs are the key.

Sayid
Sayid still has some back story to go. He has also developed a intimate relationship to Shannon, even though he was questing for Nadia. We do not know how Sayid left Iraq and under what circumstances. Sayid may be a torturer, but he still hasn’t found out the truth regarding himself. And since he tortured Henry, self-proclaimed “good guy”, there may be some payback involved.

Desmond
Good ol’ Desmond has opened a rather large can of worms for the island. His love, Penny, has discovered “something” at the end of Season 2. We know that Libby had given him the ship, and that Libby was probably waiting in Australia for him to return it to her. The question is, why was Libby returning to America? Perhaps it was information that Desmond was lost at sea and that she was contacted by Penny or another Widmore with new information. That’s a guess. But with Mr. Widmore’s close ties with Hanso and the DHARMA initiative, things do not look good for Desmond.

The Others
It appears that we are going to get some insight of these Others that have been causing problems for the Lostaways. If you’ve read my other posts, you’ll understand my position that the others have been more victimized than the Lostaways have. What they have in store for Jack, Kate, and Sawyer is probably insidious, but is not without merits. We got Henry, who appears to be higher up the ladder than Tom, aka Mr. Friendly, but not “Him”. We have the mysterious Ms. Clugh – who seems to be a powerful woman in her words and actions. We also have Alex, who understands what they are doing but may not agree on their methods. I doubt that they will reunite Danielle with Alex this season.

Unsolved Mysteries Revealed
The smoke monster: May be the start of a force on the island that the Others are battling with. Perhaps we’ll where it comes from and what exactly it is.

The whispering: May also be related to this “force” but I’m not convinced it is associated with the others.

The outside world: was revealed with the finale, but I’m not sure if it is as it looks. The “Arctic” station may not be on bottom or top of the world, and Penny’s bedroom may not be in a typical home.

Walt’s Power: What were the Others doing to Walt and what was the “room” that Ms. Clugh threatened him with. This may have to do with the “force” on the island, and how the Others mean to deal with it.

The Four Toe Statue: Again, the creators of Lost have hinted that the island story goes back far into the past. This goes with my theory of the “force” on the island. It also might explain the fate of the Black Rock, the slave ship from Season 1.

This coming season of Lost probably won’t reveal too much, otherwise, what’s the point of Season 4 and 5? The purpose would be to reveal enough to keep our interest for the coming seasons. The creators have hinted at a big reveal after episode 6 this season that might be a deal breaker for some viewers. I’m up for it. My Tivo is primed and I wait patiently for the first 6 shows this year.

So, what do you think the big reveal could be? Got a guess?

I think the 6 episode arc will end with Kate making a very stupid decision, or at least, a very unexpected decision – one that neither involves Jack or Sawyer. I think Jack will have a pig-headed reaction and exacerbate the situation. And I think Sawyer will be the only one to do something wise, possibly heroic and selfless. Sorry about the vagueness, but the creators of Lost have made it almost impossible to correctly guess what will happen. This is not your typical mystery show to solve, where all the clues are given – leaving the viewer to put them all together. Lost creators have purposefully left out vital pieces of the puzzle. The only way to predict any outcome on Lost is by what we know of the characters, which is what the creators are driving the show by.

[...] Just a recap: I so called this one. Locke’s dad is on the island – whether it be a trick or actually him isn’t the question – what is the question is that Sawyer is going to have his shot at redemption. You can read what I said over in my Season 3 predictions post. And since when did Locke become the mad bomber? He’s caused three large structures to explode over the last 4 weeks on the island. And they are on an island, for cryin’ out loud. The Swan hatch implosion, the communication bunker, and the submarine. [...]

[...] Well, less than a week until Lost starts – you know where I’ll be on Thursday night. In 2006 I made predictions of Season 3 (which you can read here) and some of those predictions where really accurate – some were way off… So I’m going to give it another shot. I’ve given up on actually calling what is going to happen. These predictions aren’t my beliefs but merely a “I hope”. So here we go: [...]
